Group Projects: A Drama Fest

Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company, once said, “If everyone is moving forward together, success takes care of itself.” Too bad nobody told that to group project members. The real challenge isn’t diFering opinions, it’s getting everyone to show up. (Thanks, WhatsApp, for either saving or ruining lives!)

In every group, you’ve got your leaders, the eager beavers, and the quiet (often, serious) ones. But the real masterminds? The ghosts, vanishing when work starts but magically reappearing to claim credit. And that one loudmouth in the presentation? Yeah, the one who did nothing. It’s always the silent one you’ve got to watch!

What’s the worst excuse you could possibly use to dodge a team meeting, claiming your family member is in the hospital or saying you’ve died? I mean, sure, if that lie somehow works, why go and ruin it by posting selfies from a party on Instagram? Seriously, girl, there’s an option to hide your story from the people you just lied to. At least pretend you’re smart while lying. It’s not that hard, this is 101-level deception, and you’re failing.

And let’s not forget the classic “my laptop’s not working” excuse that somehow manages to ruin an entire day’s worth of progress. Suddenly, everyone’s laptops mysteriously crash at the exact same time. But when you check later, they’re all “too busy” to respond yet are somehow posting screenshots of their new Netflix binge. Funny how their laptops start working just in time for leisure, but not for that group project meeting, huh? Priorities, I guess!

That “supposed-to-be-a-10-minute-break” which turns into an hour-long gossip fest with the ‘girlies’? Yeah, that’s the secret ingredient to all your procrastination. Especially at fashion college, where the energy is more “drama-filled reality show” than “peaceful Zen master.” Surviving that circus? Well, that’s another task you can add to your To-Do list, right alongside actually working on the group project. Good luck with that!

In the end, the project gets done; not because of “teamwork,” but because there’s always that one person who actually does everything while the rest of the group is too busy “having Wi-Fi issues.” And when it’s finally submitted, everyone acts like they’ve been there the whole time, claiming credit for doing absolutely nothing. But hey, the one who carried the load doesn’t need validation, because they know they’re the real MVP. Keep on ghosting, team. Someone’s gotta get it done.
